After sending 800 000 to fight in WW1, the Balfour report of 1917 stated that India should be free from Britain but without a "when". An uprising similar to that of Soweto uprising happened in Amritsar. After this Mohandas Ghandi decides to get involved. Ghandi returns to India in 1915 after being a lawyer in South Africa. Upon arrival there was major religious tension throughout India. Ghandi's strongest point was that everyone in conflict are people of India first, then their religious beliefs came second.
